Afyon Kocatepe University's (AKU) International Relations Application and Research Center (IRC) has started the "9th International Week" event. The event was held at the Erasmus Cafe and was attended by 40 academic and administrative personnel from 16 countries, as well as the Director of IRC, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Volkan Yüncü, Deputy Directors Assoc. Prof. Dr. Fatih Güngör, Dr. Öğr. Member Fatih Serttaş, and International Relations Office staff.

In his opening speech, Yüncü stated that AKU's IRC hosts the international week in the spring months every year. He expressed his pleasure in hosting guests from 16 countries, including Bosnia and Herzegovina, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Greece, Ghana, Mauritius, and Latvia. Yüncü said, "We are happy to contribute to our university's internationalization efforts and to host all of you on our campus."

Yüncü discussed Afyonkarahisar's location at the intersection of the Mediterranean, Aegean, and Central Anatolian regions, and explained that the city's name comes from the afyon plant, which is widely cultivated for medical purposes, and the black castle situated on a rock, namely the Afyonkarahisar Castle. Participants will be able to experience Afyonkarahisar's gastronomy, which is one of UNESCO's creative gastronomy cities worldwide. In addition, the event will provide an important collaboration opportunity among participating universities.

Yüncü highlighted AKU's high-quality education, scientific and technological productivity, social and economic contributions, and international academic work vision, and explained that the university undertakes many activities to make its students capable of building a career abroad, working in European and non-European countries, and contributing to the regional and global economic market. He also mentioned that AKU's Erasmus Office is among the most productive offices in Turkey for international exchange programs in the context of international relations. In the 2022 academic year, the university sent 88 students for student mobility and 35 for internships as part of the Erasmus+ program. Additionally, 121 personnel exchange was realized in 2021 with partner universities, and 90 in 2022. AKU has 185 agreements with European countries in KA131 projects, and 83 agreements with non-European countries in International Credit Mobility and KA171 projects. These statistics have led to achievements in Erasmus exchanges among all Turkish universities, and the university aims to maintain this success in the coming years.

Yüncü provided information about the program of the 9th International Week. The participants would have the chance to take a university and city tour. Additionally, they will have the opportunity to join trips to Pamukkale, Izmir, and Ephesus, which are important destinations in Turkey.
