Kütahya Governor Ali Çelik evaluated the measures and preparations taken against forest fires at the Forest Fire Fighting Commission Meeting, where the executives of relevant institutions also participated. Governor Çelik stated that they had a good year in 2022 regarding forest fires and that necessary measures were taken to prevent fires for 2023 as well.

Emphasizing the need for coordination and collaboration among all institutions and organizations to prevent and control forest fires, Governor Çelik also stated that citizens have a significant role in preventing forest fires. Governor Çelik highlighted the importance of citizens being aware and showing the necessary sensitivity towards forest fires.

"BAYRAKTAR TB2 UAV and helicopter are on duty"
Governor Ali Çelik stated that Bayraktar TB2 UAV, which will be involved in fighting fires in Kütahya, the fifth province with the largest forested area in Turkey, is stationed at Zafer Airport, while the firefighting helicopter is based in Tavşanlı. Governor Çelik stated that the UAV, which started its duty on June 1, will play an important role in fighting forest fires.

"787 personnel, 241 vehicles, and machinery will fight the fires"
Governor Çelik stated that 241 vehicles and machinery will be used to fight fires, and a total of 514 2.5-ton water tankers were distributed to villages, 96 of which were from the General Directorate of Forestry and 418 from the Provincial Administration. Governor Çelik also mentioned that the procurement process of 10 water tankers is ongoing.

Governor Çelik stated that there are 48 water collection pools, and three concrete pools will be built. He also mentioned that 71 personnel are on duty in 31 fire observation towers, and their maintenance is carried out annually. Governor Çelik shared that 430 kilometers of roadside cleaning was planned, and 145 kilometers of it is completed.

"571 personnel received training"
Governor Çelik stated that 571 personnel involved in fighting forest fires received education on fighting forest fires, the use of protective equipment, the use of water and foam in fire trucks, water supply vehicles, and first intervention vehicles, observation, and communication. Governor Çelik also mentioned that a total of 4,264 people, including military units-jandarma, forest villagers, shepherds-beekeepers, and students from schools, received education regarding forest fires.

Warning against stubble burning as well, Governor Çelik emphasized that stubble burning poses a significant risk and can cause fires. Governor Çelik drew attention to the citizens' need to act sensitively in this regard. The meeting ended after evaluating the views and recommendations.
