Eğirdir Lake, also known as the "7 colored lake" in the district of Eğirdir, is experiencing the effects of drought. The water level in Eğirdir Lake was measured as 915.12 meters by the Eğirdir and Kovada Lake Environmental Protection Association (EKO-BIR).
Mehmet Sezgin, the Mayor of Gelendost and the President of EKO-BIR, shared his views on Eğirdir Lake, stating that they were in a period where evaporation was minimized and irrigation was not turned on. He said, "Drought, which is caused by temperature increases in Turkey and around the world, is becoming more noticeable at Eğirdir Lake. Opening of irrigation water and the beginning of natural movements were necessary at these times. This has not happened yet. Eğirdir Lake is currently 38-40 centimeters lower than last year. If the irrigation season has been postponed by 1 month, we hope to see a rise in our Eğirdir Lake again."
Fishing season has opened at Eğirdir Lake.
The Mayor of Gelendost and the President of EKO-BIR, Mehmet Sezgin, also mentioned that the fishing ban has been lifted, saying "the fishing season has opened in Eğirdir Lake and in freshwater resources. Our fishermen have started to cast their nets. I wish them fruitful weeks and months. We will continue our efforts to protect our lakes and basins."
