Afyonkarahisar, known as the gastronomy city, is witnessing an increasing interest in baklava with the approaching Eid al-Adha, and the city's baklava makers are warning citizens against poor quality products. Baklava maker Süleyman Kayacan said that fake and poor quality baklava causes a burning sensation in the throat and added that "if there is crystallization in the baklava, then it is a good dessert".

Before the Eid al-Adha, baklava makers in Afyonkarahisar warned citizens against poor quality baklava. Süleyman Kayacan, known for his high-quality baklava in Afyonkarahisar, drew attention to how easy it is to tell whether baklava is genuine or fake. Kayacan speaks as follows:

"Pure oil, sugar, and starch are very important, and they must be of high quality."

"Abnormal baklava definitely causes a burning sensation in the throat. Pure oil, sugar, and starch are very important for a good taste. They must be of high quality, and their cost is high. The cost of these quality materials causes a high price. Consumers already know how much a good baklava costs, so they are aware that the cheap desserts are of poor quality and not genuine."

"If there is crystallization in the baklava, then it is a good dessert."

Kayacan emphasized the importance of using quality ingredients in making baklava, saying, "Desserts made with first-class quality ingredients are different in terms of both price and taste. I can say that baklava priced under 300 TL is of poor quality under current market conditions. Some businesses use corn syrup to extend the shelf life of baklava, which prevents the dessert from crystallizing".

Kayacan also stated that a crystallized taste is undoubtedly good, and he wished all Afyonkarahisar people a happy Eid al-Adha.
