It was declared as World Diabetes Day on the birthday of Fredrick G. Banting, who discovered insulin in 1921 and saved countless lives, and has been officially celebrated since 2007. Diabetes is not just about high blood sugar; it can cause numerous fatal and disabling problems. Therefore, information is provided on reducing diabetes and improving treatment and follow-up. Like in all chronic diseases, patients are our biggest healthcare stakeholders. Collaborating with patients in their diagnosis and treatment process is a fundamental requirement for us to succeed in fighting diseases," she said.
