Afyonkarahisar Emniyeti Uyuşturucu ile Mücadelesini SürdürüyorEskişehir Osmangazi University hosted a panel titled "Love Befits Humanity" as part of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on November 25th.
Eskişehir Chief Public Prosecutor Ali Yeldan, who spoke at the panel and shared the efforts made in the fight against violence against women, stated that they have taken the right steps in this field and have been able to prevent many incidents of violence by the year 2023.
"Our determination to fight against violence will continue to increase."
Speaking at the panel held at the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Chief Public Prosecutor Ali Yeldan explained the crime of "Persistent Pursuit" and shared the work done in the fight against violence against women and the results achieved. He announced that there has been a 30% decrease in incidents of violence against women in Eskişehir in 2023 compared to 2022. Yeldan stated, "The data obtained shows that when the right steps are taken in the field of fighting violence, many incidents can be prevented, and it is very valuable for everyone to see this. With the positive results we have achieved through our work with all the institutions working in the field, our determination to fight against violence will continue to increase."
Various presentations were made.
At the panel, Prof. Dr. Şahika Karaca, a faculty member at Eskişehir Osmangazi University, presented a speech titled "What is a Woman"; Nurten Verim Bal, the director of the Violence Prevention Center at the Eskişehir Directorate of Family and Social Services, talked about the history of November 25th and the services of Violence Prevention and Monitoring Centers (ŞÖNİM); Prof. Dr. İncilay Cangöz, the head of the Journalism Department at Anadolu University, presented a speech titled "Language, Gender, and Equality"; and Özge Ören Sağdıç, the Acting Head of Women's Studies Department at Eskişehir Metropolitan Municipality, talked about "Women's Work in Local Governments: The Example of Eskişehir". Additionally, Prof. Dr. Ferhan Şengür, the director of the Women's Research and Application Unit in Science and Technology at Eskişehir Technical University, delivered a presentation on "Empowering Women Through Entrepreneurship".
The panel was attended by Eskişehir Deputy Governor Ali Çetin, Chief Public Prosecutor Ali Yeldan, Osmangazi University Rector Prof. Dr. Kamil Çolak, Provincial Police Director Yaman Ağırlar, Eskişehir Directorate of Family and Social Services Director Orhan Bayrak, Public Prosecutors, and many faculty members and students.
At the end of the panel, the speakers were presented with plaques by Rector Prof. Dr. Kamil Çolak.
