1380 Yılında Osmanlıca Yazılan Kitap, Günümüz Türkçesine ÇevrildiAnadolu University's Center for Teaching and Research of Turkish Language (TÖMER) and the Fine Arts Department's Painting Program hosted the "2nd Art Days" at TÖMER Park. Anadolu University's Rector, Prof. Dr. Fuat Erdal visited the event and met with the students. The three-day event concluded with a display of the students' artwork. Rector Erdal conversed with the students and even made a painting himself during the "2nd Art Days".
Rector Erdal stated that TÖMER and Fine Arts students coming together for cultural interaction centered around the arts exhibited a rare and valuable experience for everyone. He continued, "Our Fine Arts students are listening to the stories of students of different cultures and nationalities and depicting them through art. This is a rare opportunity for cultural and artistic exchange. We will continue to organize such events in order to get to know our international students and for them to get to know us."
Directorate of Fine Arts' Assistant Professor, Dr. Gülçin Karaca, shared information about the event and stated that this was their second collaboration with TÖMER. TÖMER is home to many international students who experience both Turkey and Anadolu University. The Fine Arts students are able to utilize art as a means of expression and communication. Karaca shared that the previous year, they created a piece made up of the components of the TÖMER logo working in collaboration with international students. The logo components are now combined and visible in the TÖMER building. The aim of this project was to emphasize and bring together differences and cultures in harmony. Students were very happy with the results of the project and this year they plan to create more works that incorporate the A3 sized paper to express their thoughts and experiences as international students and for the Fine Arts students to paint their impressions accordingly.
TÖMER Director and Instructor, Dr. Murat Sami Türker stated that TÖMER will continue to promote cultural exchange and integration with international students. Türker emphasized that TÖMER is a place where languages and cultures intersect. Students who come to TÖMER not only learn Turkish, but also learn about the culture, geography and hospitality of Turkey. Through the three-day event, they utilized the universality of artistic expression to build bridges between different cultures. Before this collaboration with Fine Arts students, international students couldn't speak Turkish, but now they can convey their feelings through art while organizers and other Turkish students share the details and context in Turkish.
